Concepting is one of the most rewarding parts of the design process — the moment where strategy meets imagination and a blank canvas becomes a creative direction. At Columbia, that challenge was always twofold: bring something fresh and visually compelling to the table, while honoring a brand with a distinct identity and decades of built-up equity.
Working within brand guidelines isn't a limitation — it's a creative exercise. The guardrails push you to be more inventive, to find the unexpected angle within a defined system rather than starting from scratch every time. Some of my strongest concepts came from asking how far the brand could stretch while still feeling unmistakably Columbia.
Across campaigns, seasons, and product stories, I consistently brought concepts that balanced visual excitement with brand integrity — whether that meant an unexpected color treatment, a bold typographic choice, or a fresh way of framing a familiar product. The range of briefs kept the creative thinking sharp, and the commitment to making each concept feel purposeful and polished is something I carry into every project.
